Weight Loss May Be an Early Sign of Dementia 06.05.2008
A new study was conducted on the effects of dementia and the researchers find out that weight loss may leads to dementia. In old age, weight loss is very common in both men and women and it often leads to health problems. Dementia patients often loss weight and it leads to complicated situations. According to the doctors in the Institute of Psychiatry, London weight loss may leads to dementia and it can be considered as the early sign of dementia.
In the Honolulu-Asia Aging study, the researchers studied a group of around 2,000 men. The participants were examined for six times up to 34 years and the weights of the participants were recorded each time. Out of the total participants, the researchers find dementia in 112 men. Most of the men lost weight up to 10 percent two or three years before the disease was diagnosed. The researchers suggest taking this kind of weight loss seriously. The impact of dementia may be reduced if you act on time.
